    PV Coaches

Businessmen around BSG are becoming Coaches. An insurance salesman with a child on the team is the new assistant boys basketball coach. I also heard that the manager of Little Mexico in BSG is going to be the assistant girls basketball coach. It's a shame that because you have money to give to the program you can coach. I just hope that his kid gets to start.

I agree. . . I know of two fellows who applied for the job and they are teachers. This is the same debate that has went on for months now and I agree, it sucks. Tell me that the Little Mexico thing is a joke!

Why do things here have to be based on how much money you have these days? I just hope this is mere coincidence but I am still tired of hearing about these money cases in Big Stone. This makes the whole community look bad.

It's not right. Why does it have to be this way?

That being said, if Coach K was to get a job somewhere in some of these local schools, there would be someone complaining that he wasn't qualified, someone else was better suited, deserved it, was promised it, etc etc.

You're never going to make everybody happy with any choice you make.

at the BC/PV game Travis Kern told me that he was hoping to get one of the jobs. He said that he didn't care which one it was boys or girls. He did say that he did know for sure that he would be helping out with baseball.

    Re: PV Coaches

Being around it a lot, coaching around here is a thankless job. As much as I don't like Phil Robbins, look at it on here. The man has been ultra-successful, be it blind luck, skill or a combination of the 2, yet he is trashed or questioned for everything he does. It's like that or worse at nearly every other coaching job. Clintwood is among the worst, we can't seem to keep a boys basketball or a baseball coach partially due to the headaches that the people involved have to deal with. It's difficult enough with less kids putting the time/effort into athletics than previously, but you also have a crapload of parents or bleacher coaches who are sure that such and such player should be a star or such and such player shouldn't be. Honestly, I'm amazed that more schools haven't resulted to recruiting people who are interested in helping, because we know the supplement and the time required, not to mention the headaches that have to be dealt with aren't really worth it. There are very few coaches that, even if I can't stand them or think they are lacking in some qualitities, I don't respect for the work they do.
